a child's kite drifts
above the steeple



palm sunday—
muddy footprints lead
to the church doors



spiderweb
with an owner
blows in moonlight



summer's end
the last shovel of dirt
on the dog's grave



pausing
to catch her breath
dandelion seeds continue



early autumn
the red oak shares leaves
with our neighbor's garden
